The Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU) has begun preparations to negotiate a Collective Bargaining Agreement for supervisors at the West Indies Oil Company (WIOC).

AT&LU President Bernard de Nully and the union’s shop stewards recently held their first formal meeting with members of WIOC’s Supervisory Unit, which is now represented by the union.

The consultation gave supervisors an opportunity to outline their priorities as AT&LU prepares proposals to submit to WIOC’s management.

De Nully said the proposed agreement would provide clear protections and preserve supervisors’ rights, benefits and entitlements in the years ahead.

The Caribbean Congress of Labour welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step towards strengthening worker representation and trade unionism across the region.

The regional organisation said the process would not only establish employment terms but also give supervisors a stronger collective voice in decisions affecting their working conditions.

It reaffirmed its support for Caribbean unions working to secure improved employment conditions, collective bargaining rights, decent work and social justice.
