A Golden Grove man has been sentenced to 18 years and six months in prison for his role in a 2023 shooting at Carlisle Bay Resort that left two people wounded.

Frederick Henry received the sentence after pleading guilty in June to charges stemming from the April 11, 2023, shooting at the Old Road resort.

Henry was sentenced to 18 years and six months for the attempted murder of Morrisa Henry and eight years for shooting with intent in relation to Dane Anthony.

He was also sentenced to four years for a firearm offence and 12 months for an ammunition offence. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Henry will serve an effective term of 18 years and six months.

Police said Anthony and Morrisa Henry had finished their shifts and were walking toward the resort gate when they were shot at about 11:30 p.m.

Anthony sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Morrisa Henry was shot several times, including in her arms and side.

Both were taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for treatment. Their injuries required stays in the Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Ward before they were eventually discharged.
