Antigua and Barbuda’s bid to host the 2027 Caribbean Premier League final now carries a compelling possibility: The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons could defend their title in front of a home crowd.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne discussed the bid Saturday on Pointe FM’s Browne and Browne Show after congratulating the Falcons on their first CPL championship. He said Antigua and Barbuda had submitted a bid to stage next year’s final and hoped it would succeed.

The Falcons won this year’s title in Barbados, defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets. Bringing the final to Antigua next year would give local supporters a chance to see the tournament’s deciding match at home. It would put the defending champions on that stage only if they qualify for the final again.

Browne did not say when CPL would select the 2027 host or give details of Antigua and Barbuda’s bid. CPL has not announced that the final will be held in Antigua and Barbuda.

For now, the Falcons have the trophy. Whether Antigua and Barbuda gets the chance to host the next title decider remains an open question.
