A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was attacked by a knife-wielding man inside her Browne’s Avenue home early Thursday morning, ABS reported.

The woman told investigators she was at home around 5:50 a.m. when a man forced his way inside and attacked her with a knife.

She suffered several stab wounds to her left arm and at least one wound to her face while attempting to defend herself from the attacker.

The woman raised an alarm, prompting the assailant to flee the area on foot.

It was not immediately clear whether anything was stolen from the home.

The attack comes as security forces intensify operations amid a recent series of violent crimes in Antigua and Barbuda.

Police have not announced an arrest or identified a suspect in connection with the Browne’s Avenue attack.
