The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Umpires’ Association (ABCUA) proudly announces the promotion of Antiguan umpire Felix Auguiste from the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Junior Panel of Umpires to the CWI Senior Panel of Umpires.

Born in Dominica and raised in Antigua and Barbuda, Auguiste’s journey in cricket began as a player.

He represented Jennings Secondary School at the Under-16 and Under-20 levels before playing for Rising Sun Cricket Club in Parish League Cricket. He later represented and captained the Jennings team in Antigua’s local first-class league.

His transition to umpiring came through youth cricket. While assisting Tyrone “Pacer” Williams Sr. with summer youth coaching, Auguiste stepped in to officiate matches.

Visiting coaches recognised his potential and encouraged him to pursue umpiring. He officially began his umpiring career in 2009 and became a qualified West Indies umpire in 2012.

2013: Served as fourth umpire during the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 season in Antigua.

Domestic Cricket: Has received regular appointments in the Super 40, Two-Day and Cool & Smooth T20 competitions, including semi-finals and finals.

Regional Cricket: Has officiated in the Leeward Islands Men’s Three-Day and Men’s 50-Over competitions.

January 2024: Selected to the CWI Junior Panel of Umpires. During this time he officiated a number of youth competitions including Boys’ Under-15, Men’s Under-19 and Women’s Under-19 tournaments.

January 2025: Served as fourth umpire for the ICC Women’s International Series in St. Kitts.

March 2026: Nominated by the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Umpires’ Association for Sports Official of the Year at the 2025 Antigua National Sports Awards.

May 2026: Made his first-class debut at the Antigua Recreation Grounds during the Guyana vs. West Indies Academy fixture, alongside Gregory Braithwaite, who was then a member of the CWI Senior Panel and a former member of the ICC International Panel of Umpires.

Reflecting on his promotion, Auguiste remarked:

“I am humbled and honoured for this opportunity. I will definitely fly our association’s banner high and our nation’s flag as well.”

The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Umpires’ Association congratulates Auguiste on this significant achievement.

His promotion represents the culmination of more than a decade of dedication to cricket officiating and provides an opportunity for him to officiate at a higher level while continuing to represent Antigua and Barbuda on the regional stage.

Auguiste’s promotion further strengthens Antigua and Barbuda’s representation within CWI’s umpiring structure.

He now serves on the Senior Panel, with fellow Association members Donald Sheckle also elevated to the Emerging Panel and Melissa Lawrie remains on the Junior Panel.

The three officials represent Antigua and Barbuda at different stages of the CWI umpiring pathway, highlighting the continued growth and development of cricket officiating in the country.

The Association is proud of the continued development and advancement of its officials and remains committed to supporting the growth of cricket officiating in Antigua and Barbuda and throughout the Caribbean.

The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Umpires’ Association is committed to developing and supporting cricket officials in Antigua and Barbuda through training, education mentorship, and professional development.

The Association promotes the highest standards of integrity, fairness, professionalism, and excellence in cricket officiating while creating pathways for local umpires to advance at the regional and international levels.

The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Umpires’ Association extends congratulations to Felix Auguiste, Donald Sheckles and Melissa Lawrie wishing them continued success as they take this next step in their officiating careers.
