Antigua and Barbuda’s renewable energy efforts were highlighted at a wind power training seminar in China, where Project Officer Asabi Charles represented the Department of Energy.
The Seminar on Wind Power Generation Technologies for Belt and Road Initiative Countries brought together participants from several nations for technical sessions, practical activities and exchanges on wind energy systems.
Charles, who works within the Ministry of Information Communication Technologies, Utilities and Energy, presented an overview of Antigua and Barbuda’s energy sector.
The presentation covered renewable energy progress, solar power and battery storage initiatives, the country’s experience with wind energy and electric mobility. It also outlined opportunities and challenges in developing a more resilient energy sector.
The Department of Energy said the knowledge and international exchanges gained through the programme could inform ongoing discussions on renewable energy development, diversifying energy sources, energy security and climate resilience.
