Eleven individuals, Climaxx Band and the film “Deep Blue” are representing Antigua and Barbuda at the 2026 Zikomo Africa & Caribbean Awards, with the ceremony planned for December at the Super Dome in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The country’s nominees span music, filmmaking, humanitarian work and leadership, with producer Andrew “Smilus” Dorsette and filmmaker Dr. Noel Howell each competing in two categories.
Established in Lusaka, Zambia, in 2021, the awards recognise achievements in entertainment, media, philanthropy, governance and social impact. The platform has expanded to include talent from Africa and the Caribbean.
The Super Dome’s calendar lists the ceremony for December 9, although the description on the same page gives December 11. The venue and host city are identified, but the conflicting dates require clarification.
Dorsette is nominated for Best Music Producer of the Year and Best Caribbean Gospel Artist of the Year. Rashid Walker is also competing in the Caribbean gospel artist category.
Claudette Peters is nominated for Best Caribbean Artist of the Year, while Asher Otto is competing for Best Female Artist of the Year and Tian Winter for Best Male Artist of the Year.
Drastic and Bless Eye are both listed for Best Dancehall Artist of the Year. Enoch Thomas is nominated for Best New Artist of the Year, and Climaxx Band is competing for Best Band/Duo of the Year.
In film, Howell is nominated for Best Movie/TV Series Producer of the Year and Best Movie/TV Series Director of the Year. “Deep Blue” is competing in the Best Film/TV Series/Documentary category.
Joshuanette Francis is nominated for Best Humanitarian of the Year, while Dr. Apostle Stanshaw Cornelius is listed for Best Impact Woman of the Year. The listings amount to 13 distinct nominees associated with Antigua and Barbuda, counting individuals, the band and the film once each.
The awards include public voting through the organisers’ website. Supporters must register for an account and purchase tokens before casting votes for their preferred nominees. Organisers describe the platform as recognising talent, creativity, leadership and humanitarian impact.
