Two officers of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) have successfully completed a 12-week military leadership training programme in Guyana, with one receiving the award for Best Graduating Student.
Lieutenant Randolph Best and Lieutenant Chevaughn Pigott completed the Guyana Defence Force’s Junior Command and Staff Course Number 34 (JCSC #34).
Best distinguished himself by earning the Best Graduating Student award, recognising his performance, discipline and commitment throughout the programme.
The course brought together military personnel from Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis as part of efforts to strengthen regional defence cooperation and professional military development.
Participants received training in operational planning, leadership, military law, intelligence, administration and resource management.
The programme also included practical exercises and scenario-based assessments designed to test officers’ ability to apply military doctrine, exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions in operational environments.
The ABDF congratulated both officers on their achievements, noting that the training will help strengthen their leadership capabilities and prepare them for future command and staff appointments.
According to a report on the October 11 graduation, 15 officers completed the course, including three from regional defence forces.
