The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) is proud to announce the winning logo for the National Performing Arts Centre (NPAC) following the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda’s final selection and approval.
The chosen design, by Justin “Jus Bus” Nation, will serve as the official visual identity of the National Performing Arts Centre, a landmark institution representing a significant national investment in artistic excellence, cultural preservation, creative innovation, and talent development.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the Commission extend their heartfelt congratulations to Mr Nation on this remarkable achievement and express sincere appreciation to all participants whose entries reached the final 50. The outstanding quality, originality, and creativity displayed throughout the competition showcased the depth of artistic talent across Antigua and Barbuda.
Inspired by the essence of Antiguan and Barbudan culture, the winning logo tells a powerful story through colour and symbolism. Drawing directly on the national flag, the design represents the interconnected pillars of the performing arts and cultural identity:
• Red symbolizes movement, dance, passion, and the dedication behind every performance.
• Black represents the Congo drum, reflecting rhythm, heritage, and our enduring African roots.
• Yellow embodies music, creativity, melody, and joyful self-expression.
• Blue celebrates the people who create, preserve, and advance our culture every day.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the design, Nation shared:
“I wanted an identity that honours where we come from without limiting where we can go. The movement. The rhythm. The melody. The people. These are not separate stories; they are all part of the same cultural journey. Our culture is always evolving, shaped by the people who live it. That’s what ‘Bring Our Culture. Shape Our Identity.’ means to me.”
Envisioned as a premier home for the performing arts, the Centre will provide a dynamic space for artistic expression, cultural preservation, education, collaboration, and the continued growth of Antigua and Barbuda’s creative industries. It is expected to become a catalyst for nurturing local talent, showcasing national and regional performances, and strengthening the country’s cultural legacy for generations to come.
The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission thanks all entrants and stakeholders who contributed to this initiative and celebrates this exciting step forward in shaping a vibrant future for the performing arts in Antigua and Barbuda.
Bring Our Culture. Shape Our Identity.
