Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene says international partners are helping Antigua and Barbuda prepare security arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November.
Speaking at a public town hall, Greene said Canada, the United Kingdom, Jamaica and the Regional Security System were providing support to supplement local personnel.
He acknowledged concerns about crime and violence, saying additional measures were being taken to protect residents and visitors.
Local police and defence personnel have been involved in planning, training and exercises. Greene said he hoped the skills developed would help improve public safety beyond the conference.
