Antigua and Barbuda’s veteran sound system Poison Dart has made a winning return to the sound clash arena after a six-year absence, defeating rival Blunt Posse in three consecutive rounds.
Established in 1993, Poison Dart has built a reputation as one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most experienced sound clash competitors, representing the country at major international events.
The group has participated in three World Clash competitions, including an event in Antigua and appearances in New York and Canada. Poison Dart also competed in Germany in 2010 at the Riddim Clash and has taken part in several other international competitions.
Its latest victory over Blunt Posse marks a significant comeback after years away from competitive clashing.
According to the sound system, the return followed repeated calls from supporters eager to see Poison Dart compete again.
The group said it was also determined to answer criticism from a major competitor that had labelled its members “sound clash cowards.”
Poison Dart responded by winning three consecutive rounds against Blunt Posse, securing what is known in sound clash culture as a “lock-off,” a decisive victory that ends the contest.
The comeback has also paved the way for another international appearance.
Poison Dart has accepted an invitation to represent Antigua and Barbuda at War Is In The Air 8, a sound clash competition scheduled to take place in the Bronx, New York.
The group said its decision to accept the challenge was driven partly by persistent requests from fans who had been asking when Poison Dart would return to the clash arena.
With more than three decades of history behind it, Poison Dart is now preparing to carry Antigua and Barbuda’s flag into another international sound clash, following a comeback victory that the group says demonstrates it remains a formidable competitor.
