Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Elon Musk is unlikely to attend CHOGM in Antigua and Barbuda after concerns were raised that his presence could overshadow the gathering.
Browne said Musk had indicated a willingness to visit, but objections were subsequently expressed that he could attract most of the attention and become the event’s main highlight.
The prime minister did not identify who raised the concerns and declined to provide further details.
Browne also spoke of support associated with SpaceX and Musk’s group, which he valued at approximately $1 million. He said a Tesla Cybertruck had been promised and expressed hope that it would arrive in time for the summit.
He did not confirm a delivery date for the vehicle or announce a final decision on Musk’s attendance.
