– H.E. High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill met last month with Edward Hilary Davis of Vaughtons, a British manufacturer of medals, badges and ceremonial insignia, who agreed to deliver medals for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 and Antigua and Barbuda’s 45th Anniversary of Independence.
The CHOGM and Independence medals were designed by Vaughtons’ Head of International Sales and Partnerships, Mr Edward Davis, in close consultation with the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London. The CHOGM design incorporates the Commonwealth badge, Antigua and Barbuda’s Coat of Arms, the colours of the national flagand colours represented across Commonwealth flags.
This year marks 45 years since Antigua and Barbuda gained independence. To commemorate this important national milestone, Vaughtons has produced a limited number of 45th Anniversary of Independence medals. These will be presented to representatives of visiting governments and to Antiguans and Barbudans during the celebrations.
The Independence medals’ ribbons display all six colours of the Antigua and Barbuda flag. The obverse features the national Coat of Arms, surrounded by the national motto,
“Each Endeavouring, All Achieving.”
The reverse depicts the main islands of Antigua and Barbuda alongside the dates
1981–2026
.
High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill said:
“These medals will be lasting mementos of an important year for Antigua and Barbuda: our hosting of CHOGM and the 45th anniversary of our Independence. Their designs bring together symbols of our national identity and our shared Commonwealth ties. We are particularly pleased to have negotiated the production of these medals at no cost to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. I am grateful to Vaughtons and to Edward Hilary Davis for working closely with the High Commission to create medals that reflect these important occasions.”
