A 24-year-old man has been identified as Akyjah Nibbs following a fatal shooting in Ottos that has left family members and friends mourning his death.

Nibbs reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to the chest during the attack and was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

According to preliminary reports, Nibbs was travelling in a vehicle with a female companion when two individuals allegedly emerged from nearby bushes and opened fire.

The vehicle reportedly sustained multiple bullet holes and was subsequently taken to the medical centre.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that Nibbs and his companion may have been followed before the shooting.

However, police have not officially confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the sequence of events or whether the victims were deliberately targeted.

The condition of the female companion has not been established.

Further details are expected as investigations continue.
