Dr. Godwin Friday, NDP leader
Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Godwin Friday, has extended congratulations to Antigua and Barbuda on its 45th anniversary of independence, expressing delight at being in the country for the national celebrations.
In a message posted Sunday, November 1, Friday said he was pleased to join the people of Antigua and Barbuda as they marked the historic occasion.
“It is a special pleasure to be here in Antigua and Barbuda on this important occasion, as our Caribbean neighbours celebrate 45 years of independence,” Friday said.
The Vincentian leader said he was looking forward to participating in the day’s celebrations and sharing in the national pride and joy of Antiguans and Barbudans.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, I extend warmest congratulations and best wishes for continued peace, progress and prosperity,” he added.
Friday concluded his message by wishing Antigua and Barbuda a happy Independence Day.
Antigua and Barbuda gained independence from Britain on November 1, 1981, and is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
The anniversary celebrations coincide with Antigua and Barbuda’s hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, scheduled for November 1-4 in St. John’s.
