His Majesty King Charles III attended the Commonwealth Leaders and CEO Investment Summit, which took place during the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026) held in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
The Commonwealth Leaders and CEO Investment Summit brought together over 50 Heads of Government, CEOs and business leaders from across the Commonwealth for a roundtable discussion to explore opportunities for trade, investment, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
The Summit was hosted by the Sustainable Markets Initiative (the exclusive Sustainability Partner of the CHOGM 2026 Business Forum) in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Government of Antigua & Barbuda and the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC).
The discussions between Heads of Government, CEOs and senior business leaders highlighted the significant volume of capital committed to transition by 2030 ($5.14 trillion by SMI members alone), yet currently only 3% flows into the Commonwealth.
As such, emphasis was placed on what the private sector needs to increase financial flows, create new industry partnerships and accelerate delivery across the Commonwealth – as well as ongoing commitments to the Commonwealth’s agenda for investment, climate resilience and sustainable growth.
His Majesty King Charles III joined attendees to hear feedback from the discussions, with a focus on practical progress and further opportunities to accelerate the transition agenda by 2030.
Jennifer Jordan-Saifi, President and Global Envoy of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, said:
“We have been proud to host this year’s Commonwealth Leaders and CEO Investment Summit and partner with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in support of CHOGM 2026. This Summit has been a vital forum to bring together government leaders from across the Commonwealth and connect with private sector businesses to accelerate the transition agenda and explore opportunities for trade, investment, innovation and sustainable economic growth. For many countries across the Commonwealth transition increasing investment, building climate resilience and fostering sustainable growth is a critical economic imperative.”
His Majesty was also presented with a Formula E helmet, carrying the logo of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, a gift from Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E – the first all-electric racing championship. The presentation took place in front of a special commemorative Formula E race car bearing the flags of all 56 Commonwealth nations, which was showcased at CHOGM to Commonwealth leaders and Heads of Government.
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E said,
“Formula E exists to create the most exciting racing on the planet. Incredible speeds, extraordinary technology and close, wheel-to-wheel racing. But we also have a bigger ambition. To showcase the shift towards electrification and demonstrate that world-class sporting events can be delivered in a more sustainable way. And that’s why bringing our car to Antigua and Barbuda for CHOGM, alongside the Sustainable Markets Initiative, is such a fantastic opportunity. We share the SMI’s belief that sustainability and economic progress can go hand in hand, and as the world’s first B Corp certified sport, it’s something we’re deeply committed to.
“This car is a brilliant demonstration of that ambition. There doesn’t have to be a compromise between performance and progress. It’s the most sustainable racing car we’ve ever built, designed to be 100% reusable or recyclable at end of life. But it’s also our most powerful, with 70% more power than its predecessor, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometres an hour in just 1.8 seconds. That’s around 30% quicker than a current Formula One car.
“We’re not asking people to sacrifice performance in the name of sustainability. We’re demonstrating that the two can go hand in hand. And showcasing that technology and ambition here, in front of some of the world’s most influential leaders, is incredibly exciting.”
This year’s Commonwealth Leaders and CEO Investment Summit at the Business Forum follows the successful Commonwealth Leaders & CEOs Summit convened by His Majesty King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, at CHOGM in Kigali, Rwanda in 2022, and the Leaders and CEOs Reception His Majesty hosted at CHOGM in Samoa in 2024.
The focus of these Leader and CEO gatherings since 2022 has been to reinforce, demonstrate and accelerate public-private collaboration on transition efforts aligned with the 2030 agendas, including the Paris Climate Agreement, the SDGs and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, including 30 x 30.
