Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin has praised a cultural production in Antigua and Barbuda as a world-class performance, saying it signals the beginning of a cultural renaissance.

In a public statement, Benjamin endorsed sentiments expressed by Grenada’s minister of culture, describing the showcase as “majestic, professional and executed with surgical precision.”

Benjamin, who represents St. John’s City South in Parliament, commended the cast, crew, producers and everyone involved for their work.

He also credited Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his government for establishing the National Arts and Performance Cultural Centre, describing the decision as a bold initiative.

“That performance has set the cultural stage for great things to come,” Benjamin said, noting that the production had been shared worldwide.

He expressed pride in being Antiguan and Barbudan and said the showcase reflected the country’s cultural potential.

STATEMENT BY SIR STEADROY BENJAMIN KGCN, ATTORNEY GENERAL AND PARLIAMENTARY REPRESENTATIVE OF ST. JOHN’S CITY SOUTH.

I agree completely with the sentiments expressed by the Minister of Culture of Grenada. That cultural extravaganza was majestic, professional and executed with surgical precision and was a performance of world class standard.

Indeed, I am very proud to be an Antiguan and Barbudan. The Cultural Renaissance has begun and all Antiguans and Barbudans, I am sure by now, have all “caught the vision” and together “we shall live the DREAM”.

The cast, crew, producers and everyone who took part in that production must be highly commended for an excellent job. But, most of all, we must all give credit and very high praise to our visionary Prime Minister and his government for the bold initiative and steps taken in establishing a first class National Arts and Performance Cultural Centre in our twin island state.

That performance has set the cultural stage for great things to come. And, it was shared worldwide.
