MP Maria Browne has paid tribute to Sherwin Harding, describing the 36-year-old killed in Monday night’s Pares Main Road crash as a friend, comrade and source of unwavering support.
“This loss is simply too painful for words,” Browne wrote in a social media post. “To lose someone in such heartbreaking circumstances is a tragedy that is difficult to comprehend.”
Harding, of Skerritts Pasture, and three-year-old Janae Browne died in the collision near Welch Supermarket at approximately 7:50 p.m., according to police.
Browne extended condolences to Harding’s family, friends and colleagues on behalf of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s St. John’s Rural East branch, the Ministry of Works and herself.
“May God grant strength and comfort to all who mourn this unimaginable loss, and may Sherwin rest in eternal peace,” she wrote.
Police said Harding was driving a Toyota Vitz that struck a fence and wall after he reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and encountered oncoming traffic.
Two other occupants, Rashima Moore and three-year-old Jahcari Browne, received treatment at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Police said both were in stable condition.
The collision remains under investigation.
