Ambassador Lionel Hurst, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, is recovering well after being hospitalised earlier this week, the government has confirmed.
During Thursday’s post-Cabinet media briefing, Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant, who stood in for Hurst, provided an update on his condition.
“From all reports, he’s doing very well,” Merchant said. “The nurses are smiling, so that means he is getting to his 100% top-tip shape.”
Hurst’s temporary absence was noted at the start of the briefing, with Merchant assuring the public that he was in good spirits and receiving the necessary care.
Government officials and media colleagues extended their well wishes, expressing hope for a swift return to duty.
