The police are continuing investigations into a shooting incident at the West Bus Station Terminal.
The incident which occurred shortly after 10pm on Saturday, July 26, left a 32-year-old male of Five Islands nursing a gunshot wound at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center.
Reports indicate that the young man was walking through the terminal when a fight broke out among a group of individuals. During the altercation, the victim was reportedly shot at the back of his upper right thigh. He was later transported by EMS to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was treated for his wound. Medical personnel have confirmed that his injury is not life-threatening.No other injuries were reported during the incident. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Prior to the official start of the 2025 Carnival Celebrations, the Police Administration announced a island-wide Security Strategic Plan with emphasis on a ” No Weapon” policy. Members of the public are warned that possession of firearms or any sharp or blunt objects, including knives, machetes, cleavers, scissors, pieces of iron, or wood, is strictly prohibited.Anyone found in possession of these items will be arrested.
The police further wish to reassure members of the public, particularly bus and taxi operators and commuters using the West Bus Station Terminal, that heightened security measures are being implemented at the location to ensure their continued safety.
The Police Administration is again appealing to the public to act responsibly and maturely throughout the remainder of the Carnival season. Adherence to the safety advisories and full cooperation with law enforcement are vital to ensuring a safe and enjoyable celebration for all.
