Antigua and Barbuda Advances Five Islands School and UWI Expansion Projects
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda says work continues on two major education projects aimed at expanding access to quality learning and strengthening the country’s higher education sector.
During the latest Cabinet meeting, Education Minister Daryll Matthew reported that construction of the new Five Islands Primary School remains on schedule. He said the public will receive an update on the project’s progress next week.
Cabinet also received an update on the planned expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, where the procurement process continues to attract strong interest. Approximately 18 firms have expressed interest in the project ahead of the August 14 deadline for bid submissions.
The government said the two initiatives represent significant investments in education infrastructure and are intended to improve learning opportunities while further establishing Antigua and Barbuda as a regional hub for higher education and research.
Cabinet expressed confidence that both projects will deliver long-term benefits for future generations and contribute to the country’s broader national development goals.
