A vehicle was broken into Tuesday night while its owner attended the Queen of Carnival show at Carnival City, one day after police announced heightened security measures for the 2026 festivities.

The vehicle was parked in the Government Archives yard when someone reportedly smashed a window and searched the interior. According to a social media post, it was the only vehicle in the parking area that was targeted.

It was not immediately clear whether anything was stolen or if the matter had been reported to police.

On Monday, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda said it would increase mobile and foot patrols, conduct vehicle checkpoints and carry out random stop-and-search operations throughout the Carnival season.

Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
