As Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 the CHOGM National Taskforce has officially launched Dual Thresholds a landmark public art initiative that celebrates the nation’s cultural identity while symbolizing the unity, diversity and enduring partnerships of the Commonwealth’s 56 member states.
The exhibition will feature 28 freestanding, double-sided door creating 56 individual artistic canvases each representing one Commonwealth member state. Together the doors will form a powerful visual representation of the Commonwealth family interpreted through the artistic and cultural lens of Antigua and Barbuda.
Designed and executed by Antiguan and Barbudan artists each artwork will draw inspiration from the nation’s landscapes, heritage, history, ecology and material culture showcasing the creativity and cultural richness of Antigua and Barbuda.
As part of the official launch of Dual Thresholds two doors were unveiled during the launch of Art Week facilitated by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority offering the public a first look at the creativity and artistic excellence that will define the full exhibition.
The showcased pieces highlight the exceptional talent of Antiguan and Barbudan artists Heather Doram and Dylan Elias Phillips whose distinctive artistic expressions reflect the depth diversity and cultural heritage of Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant creative community.
To bring this ambitious vision to life the CHOGM National Taskforce is launching a National Door Donation Drive.
The Taskforce is inviting donations of new or gently used wooden doors from homeowners, businesses, hotels, schools, contractors and construction projects across Antigua and Barbuda. Each donated door will become part of a lasting public art installation and contribute to the cultural legacy of CHOGM 2026.
