A single mother employed by the Public Works Department is appealing for urgent assistance as she and her two children face the prospect of becoming homeless in November.

The woman said the rented house where they currently live is expected to be demolished for renovations, leaving her only a few months to secure alternative accommodation.

She said financial difficulties have made it nearly impossible to save enough money for another home while meeting her children’s food and back-to-school expenses.

The mother also claimed she has been unable to obtain a small loan because she has not received a job letter from her employer.

She said the children’s father has left Antigua and Barbuda and refuses to provide child support, while neither her family nor his relatives can assist.

“I just can’t see my children homeless, and I’m not giving my children away either,” she said. “I just need some assistance as soon as possible.”
