Ottos Comprehensive School Principal Forster Roberts is urging the public to pray for second-form student Joshua Meade, who remains in critical condition after being shot in the face during Monday night’s attack in Bathlodge.

Roberts said Joshua had recently asked about joining the school’s football programme. He described the teenager as an ordinary student who was at home when the shooting occurred and rejected speculation that he was involved in a gang.

Three people were shot after masked intruders reportedly forced their way into a Bathlodge home and opened fire. Saquania Anthony, a 20-year-old mother of two, was killed. She was reportedly pregnant. A man was also injured.

The principal called for urgent action against gun violence, saying parents, schools, churches, community organisations and public institutions must work together to protect young people. He urged the country to treat the attack as a matter of shared responsibility rather than a political dispute.

Police said Tuesday that two suspects were in custody and that they were seeking a third person. They have not announced a motive.
