A flash flood advisory has been issued for Antigua as persistent rainfall continues to affect the island.
The advisory, released at 9:20am today by the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services, remains in effect until 5pm.
Meteorologists say a slow-moving trough has produced up to one inch of rain so far, with additional showers expected throughout the day. The heavy rainfall may result in minor flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Residents are being urged to exercise caution.
Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roads and heed the warning: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Authorities also recommend that individuals move to higher ground if necessary.
The public is encouraged to stay tuned to local radio and television stations for the latest weather updates.
