Law enforcement officers have made another significant drug seizure, this time uncovering a large quantity of cannabis concealed inside a piece of furniture.

On Thursday, May 22, during a joint drug operation at the Deep Water Harbour, Police and Customs officials seized a grey sofa with thirty (30) vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis hidden inside. The packages weighed thirty (30) pounds and have an estimated street value of $180,000. The sofa and the controlled substance were transported to Police Headquarters for further processing. Investigations into the matter are continuing.

This latest seizure comes just days after a similar joint operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport Cargo Shed on Tuesday, where officers discovered twenty-three (23) vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis weighing 23 pounds and valued at approximately $138,000.

No arrests have been made in connection with either seizure at this time. Both matters remain under investigation.

The Police and Customs remain committed to combating illegal drug trafficking and strengthening national border security. Anyone with information that may assist in these investigations is urged to contact the Narcotics Department at 462-5150 or call Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
