A Potters man has been ordered to pay $10,000 within three months or serve prison time after admitting to a 2022 burglary in which he stole Apple electronics and jewellery.

Timothy Anthony was sentenced in the High Court on Tuesday by Justice Tunde Bakre, who directed him to pay $8,000 in compensation to the victim and a $2,000 fine to the state by September. Failure to do so will result in incarceration.

The burglary occurred on 16 November 2022, while the homeowner was away. Security footage captured Anthony on the property in distinctive clothing, helping police identify him.

Among the stolen items were an iPad Pro 12.9, AirPods Pro, accessories, silver jewellery, a weed whacker, and a fuel container.

Anthony, who pleaded guilty on 15 May, told the court he had since turned his life around and is now working as a farmer. Defence attorney Wendel Robinson assisted during sentencing, while prosecutor Daniel Lattery represented the Crown.
