Antigua and Barbuda has gained international attention after Ambassador Refica Attwood delivered the keynote address at the Young Professionals Fellowship in Toronto, Canada.
Attwood, the first Antiguan and Barbudan to participate in the prestigious event, is the founder of Wallings Nature Reserve. Speaking ahead of the conference, she expressed her pride in representing the country and sharing its environmental story.
“I’m the only delegate from a small island,” she said. “Many people here don’t know where Antigua and Barbuda is, so I’m using this opportunity to put us on the map.”
Her speech focused on the link between environmental preservation and social impact, drawing from her work at Wallings.
Attwood said she hopes her presence inspires wider recognition of Antigua and Barbuda’s contributions to global sustainability efforts.
