The organizers of Anucon announce the postponement of this weekend’s highly anticipated event due to the projected path of Tropical Storm Erin, which meteorologists expect to strengthen into a hurricane by the weekend.
“The safety and well-being of our attendees, vendors, staff, and volunteers is our highest priority,” said Mario Wade, one of the chairpersons behind Anucon. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone this weekend’s event.”
Anucon is an annual costume convention celebrating the art of cosplay, creativity, and fandom culture. The event brings together cosplay enthusiasts, makers, and fans from across the region to showcase their handcrafted creations, participate in competitions, attend workshops, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
Current weather projections indicate that Tropical Storm Erin is expected to intensify and potentially impact the region during the originally scheduled event dates, creating unsafe conditions for outdoor activities and travel.
Anucon 2025 has been rescheduled for **Saturday, August 23rd, 2025**, maintaining the same venue and schedule as originally planned. All programming, vendors, special guests, and activities will proceed as scheduled on the new date.
All previously purchased tickets will be automatically honoured for the August 23rd date. Attendees who cannot attend the rescheduled date may contact anucon268@gmail.com for refund options. Full details regarding ticket transfers and refunds will be available on our social media pages as soon as possible.
All confirmed vendors and special guests have been notified of the date change and are expected to participate on August 23rd. Any changes to the guest lineup or vendor roster will be communicated immediately through official channels.
