Police in Antigua and Barbuda are investigating a surge of burglaries, larcenies and robberies that has left communities unsettled in recent days.

The incidents range from home invasions in Upper Gambles and Wireless Road to break-ins at businesses in St. John’s Village and thefts at Island Academy’s parking lot.

The spree began with the theft of a weedwalker worth $3,000 from a vehicle at Island Academy between 13 and 14 August. Hours later, burglars struck two homes in Upper Gambles, stealing mobile phones including an iPhone 13. Police later recovered the device in a bag hidden in Fort Road, along with five other phones.

Elsewhere, thieves broke into a home on Lachland Benjamin Drive and stole three phones, while another resident on Wireless Road reported her house was ransacked. In St. John’s Village, a business was burgled, with cash and alcohol taken after intruders forced entry.

In a separate case, a man from Martin’s Village reported his lounge chair stolen from his yard.

Police say patrols have been increased but are urging residents to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
