Caribbean Airlines has cancelled services into and out of St Maarten on Saturday as Hurricane Erin moves through the northern Leeward Islands.
The airline said flight BW 457, scheduled for August 16, will no longer operate on its Kingston–St Maarten–Trinidad route. Instead, the service will fly directly between Kingston, Jamaica, and Trinidad, bypassing St Maarten.
Passengers booked on the cancelled sectors will be re-accommodated on the next available flights, the carrier confirmed.
The re-routed flight is due to depart Kingston at 1:50pm local time and arrive in Trinidad at 5:35pm.
Caribbean Airlines advised that affected customers are being contacted directly and encouraged travellers to register for real-time updates via its website. Flight status information is also available through the airline’s homepage.
The cancellation comes as Hurricane Erin, a powerful Category 4 storm, continues to generate hazardous conditions across parts of the region.
