The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has reported that the nation’s air quality is at a _moderate_ level due to increased particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), linked to the eighteenth significant surge of Saharan Dust for 2025.

According to the 11 a.m. bulletin on Tuesday, 19 August, the Air Quality Index (AQI) currently stands between 51 and 80, placing the country in the “moderate” category until Thursday.

While the health risk remains low for most of the population, unusually sensitive groups—including asthmatics, people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children—are advised to take precautions and monitor forecasts closely.

The Meteorological Services highlighted that, although air quality is generally acceptable, some pollutants could pose moderate health concerns for a small number of people who are more vulnerable to air pollution.

Residents, particularly active children and those with respiratory conditions, are urged to limit prolonged outdoor activity during this period.
