The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party is preparing to shift into campaign mode with a national convention scheduled for April 12, a key event expected to lock in candidates and signal the party’s next political move.

Among those set to be formally endorsed are Dr Philmore Benjamin in St Mary’s North and Kendra Beazer in Barbuda, completing an important phase of candidate selection ahead of a potential early poll.

Political sources suggest the convention may serve as more than a routine gathering, with indications that a general election could be called soon after. If that scenario unfolds, the meeting would effectively mark the starting point of Labour’s election push.

The ruling party heads into this period strengthened by its recent by-election victory in St Philip North, a result widely viewed as reinforcing its organisational strength and voter support.
