The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has announced temporary interruptions to water service in several communities beginning Tuesday as one of the production units at the Fort James Reverse Osmosis Plant is taken offline for essential maintenance.
According to APUA’s Water Business Unit, the maintenance is expected to reduce production capacity, resulting in intermittent water supply to customers served by the Fort James plant.
During the maintenance period, water will be available daily between 4:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 14, and is expected to be completed by the afternoon of Friday, July 17, when the unit is expected to return to service.
Areas expected to be affected include Dry Hill, Fort James Beach, Runaway Beach, Sandals Resorts, Villa, Yorks, McKinnons, Crown Gardens, Upper Fort Road, Friars Hill Road, Gambles, and Point.
APUA apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience, stating that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability of the island’s water supply.
