The St. John’s Hospice held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 9 July 2026, at Government House, bringing together members of the Board of Directors, His Excellency The Rt. Hon. Sir Rodney Williams, GCMG, KGN, KSt.J, Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Her Excellency Lady Williams, who serve as Patrons of the Hospice.

The meeting, chaired by Mr. Pedro Corbin, commenced promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the presentation of the Chairman’s Report, highlighting the work and achievements of the Board during the financial year ending 31 December 2025. Among the areas reviewed were the continued strengthening of the organisation’s governance, fundraising initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and efforts to enhance the long-term sustainability of the Hospice.

Treasurer Mrs. Pauline Perry presented the audited financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2025, which reflected a modest operating surplus and reaffirmed the organisation’s sound financial stewardship. The Board noted its appreciation for the continued generosity of donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and supporters whose contributions remain vital to the Hospice’s mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care.

The meeting also featured a lively and engaging discussion on a number of strategic matters, including opportunities to strengthen fundraising, expand digital giving platforms, and further increase public awareness of the Hospice’s invaluable work. Her Excellency Lady Williams offered thoughtful and practical recommendations, providing valuable insights that will assist the Board in shaping its future initiatives.

In his remarks, His Excellency The Rt. Hon. Sir Rodney Williams commended the Board, management, staff, and volunteers for their unwavering commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality hospice care to the people of Antigua and Barbuda. He praised the organisation for its strong governance, prudent financial management, and dedication to serving patients and their families with dignity and compassion.

His Excellency encouraged the Board to continue building on its successes and urged the wider community to support the Hospice through volunteerism, advocacy, and charitable giving, noting that the institution has become an indispensable national asset and a source of pride for Antigua and Barbuda.

Following the meeting, Board members were invited on a tour of the recently renovated areas of Government House. The tour showcased the significant progress made in the restoration of one of the nation’s most important historic landmarks and highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage.

The Board expressed its sincere appreciation for the opportunity to visit Government House and joined Their Excellencies in encouraging citizens and residents alike to visit this important national site and to support its continued restoration and preservation for future generations.
