Customers of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) will continue to pay a Fuel Variation Rate (FVR) of EC$0.80 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for electricity in August, with the surcharge remaining unchanged for the third consecutive month.
The rate, which reflects the international market cost of fuel used to generate electricity, has remained at EC$0.80/kWh since June.
Historical data released by APUA shows the FVR stood at EC$0.70/kWh in May before increasing to EC$0.80/kWh in June, where it has remained through July and now August.
The Fuel Variation Rate is a variable charge applied to electricity bills and fluctuates based on global fuel prices, independent of APUA’s base electricity tariff.
