Antigua and Barbuda’s inflation rate climbed to

    4.4% in July 2026

, reflecting a broader increase in the cost of living, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report.

The National Bureau of Statistics said the 4.4% increase was recorded over the 12 months ending July 2026. The index excluding food and energy rose by

    4.1%

, while the Energy index increased by

    20.6%

    .

Prices also increased significantly on a month-to-month basis, with the overall CPI rising

    2.1% between June and July

    .

Several categories recorded substantial year-on-year increases. Communication costs rose

    23.1%

    , Clothing and Footwear increased

    6.6%

    , Restaurants and Hotels climbed

    6.5%

    , and Education was up

    13.3%

    .

Housing and utility costs were another major pressure point. The Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels index increased

    7.6%

, driven in part by a

    42.9% surge in electricity prices

. Actual housing rents increased 2%.

Food prices moved in the opposite direction. The Food index declined

    0.8% year-on-year

, including a 13.8% drop in fruit prices and a 5% decline in Meat and Meat Products.

The figures were published by the National Bureau of Statistics under the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance.
