Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) has announced that its Coolidge branch will be closed from Wednesday, October 28, through Wednesday, November 4, 2026, because of activities associated with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda.
The bank said the closure is necessary because CHOGM-related activities will restrict access to the area.
During the eight-day period, night deposit services will be unavailable, while ATMs at the Coolidge location will only be accessible to individuals accredited to enter the restricted area.
Customers are being encouraged to use other ECAB branches and ATM locations or conduct transactions through the bank’s online and mobile banking platforms.
ECAB apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.
Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) will close its Coolidge branch for eight days beginning Wednesday, October 28, as security arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) begin affecting access to key locations in Antigua and Barbuda.
The closure will remain in effect through Wednesday, November 4, coinciding with the period surrounding the international summit, which is scheduled to bring Commonwealth leaders and delegations to Antigua and Barbuda from November 1-4.
In a notice to customers, ECAB said activities associated with CHOGM would affect access to its Coolidge location, making the temporary closure necessary.
The bank also warned that night deposit services would be unavailable throughout the period. ATMs at the branch will remain accessible only to individuals with accreditation permitting them to enter the restricted area.
Customers are being advised to use other ECAB branches and ATM locations or conduct their transactions through online and mobile banking services.
The Coolidge area is expected to be among the locations affected by heightened security during the summit. The nearby Coolidge Cricket Grounds will host the Commonwealth Business Forum, while other events are scheduled at venues in the surrounding area.
Police have outlined traffic control measures around the cricket grounds and V.C. Bird International Airport, including checkpoints, temporary signs and designated traffic lanes.
However, Superintendent Elson Quammie has assured the public that the airport will remain operational and that passengers will continue to have access to the terminal despite the security arrangements.
The restrictions form part of a wider security operation for CHOGM, which will bring heads of government, ministers and other representatives from across the Commonwealth to Antigua and Barbuda.
ECAB’s closure means customers who normally conduct business at the Coolidge branch will have to make alternative arrangements during the period.
The bank’s other listed locations include Redcliffe Street in St. John’s and Nelson’s Dockyard in English Harbour, although customers should confirm operating arrangements before visiting.
The bank apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.
