Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey has announced plans for a Trade and Investment Conference in 2027 as the organisation seeks to increase trade between member countries to US$2 trillion.

Speaking at the opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda, Botchwey said the conference would bring together trade, finance and investment ministers alongside business leaders.

The meeting will focus on removing trade barriers and turning investment opportunities into practical projects.

Botchwey said the Commonwealth would work with advisory groups to attract investment and strengthen cooperation between governments and businesses.

She described the Antigua and Barbuda summit as a meeting focused on action, highlighting the Commonwealth’s ability to deliver meaningful change through stronger partnerships.
