**INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR WOMEN IN MARITIME**
**President’s Message**
**“AN OCEAN OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN.”**
International Day for Women in Maritime is celebrated annually on the 18th May.
This initiative is led by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to promote the empowerment of women across the sector. This year’s theme is, “An Ocean of Opportunities for Women”.
Today we celebrate the women who hold a diverse array of roles within the maritime industry and are making significant contributions ranging from operational positions to leadership roles on board vessels and on shore. These include Captains, Officers, Marine Engineers, Technicians, Marine Biologists, Environmental Scientists, Maritime Lawyers, Policy Makers, Port and Logistics Managers. This proves that success is possible and not gender specific.
Special thanks to the IMO and other supporting organizations who continue to shape policies and actions to promote greater representation, recognition and empowerment of women within the sector.
We here at WiMAC Antigua and Barbuda, join to celebrate this day and recognize the work of our phenomenal women creating waves in the Maritime Sector.
**Happy International Day for Women in Maritime!!**
