PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE – ST. JOHN’S RURAL SOUTH & ALL ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

As your Community Advocate for St. John’s Rural South, I urge every resident to take precautions over the next 48 to 72 hours. Tropical Storm Erin is being monitored closely, and while the track may change, we could experience storm-force winds or heavy rainfall if the system moves closer.

    Prepare now:

    • Secure roofs, windows, and property to protect lives.

    • Have flashlights, batteries, battery packs, and fully charged devices ready in case of power outages.

    • Store water for drinking, cooking, and general use in case of service interruption.

    • Stock up on non-perishable hurricane foods such as canned goods, small canned milk, dry cereal, crackers, peanut butter, and other dried foods that do not require refrigeration

    • Keep important documents safe and dry.

    Look out for each other:

    • Check on seniors, single mothers with children, and anyone needing assistance.

    • Residents in low-lying areas such as Golden Grove New Extension and Creekside should stay alert for possible flooding.

    • Know your nearest shelter and be ready if evacuation becomes necessary.

We may only see rain this time, but preparation is essential not just for Tropical Storm Erin but for any storms that may follow this season. Let us work together, help our neighbors secure their homes, and keep our communities safe.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Use radio, social media, or other reliable sources for updates.

God bless us all, and God bless Antigua and Barbuda.

To my people of St. John’s Rural South and all of Antigua and Barbuda know that your safety is always in my heart and on my mind. We are one community, one family, and together we will weather any storm. My love and prayers are with each of you.
