A representative from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) will observe Jamaica’s general elections on 3 September.

ABEC has a history of regional involvement, with Supervisor of Elections Ian Hughes leading a CARICOM observer mission during Trinidad and Tobago’s April elections. It is not yet clear who will attend the Jamaican polls or in what capacity.

ABEC will also participate in upcoming training sessions and observer missions in Guyana and Panama. Public Relations Officer Elisa Graham said these efforts aim to “expand and enhance our human resource capabilities” and strengthen the commission’s regional and international presence.
