Alex Browne Calls Nomination a “Seminal Moment,” Says St. Philip’s North Facing ‘Change Election’
United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne said his nomination in the St. Philip’s North by-election marks a “seminal moment in history,” declaring the contest a turning point for the constituency.
“Very, very humbled and honored. It’s a seminal moment in history. I’m happy to be part of this. I say thanks to the Almighty,” Browne said following his formal nomination. “We have work to do and we are praying about this moment. We will continue to pray and work because this moment must be remembered for generations that today is Saturday for change in St. Philip’s North.”
Browne’s remarks came shortly after he was declared duly nominated to contest the March 16 by-election, triggered by the retirement of longtime parliamentary representative Sir Robin Yearwood.
UPP Political Leader Jamale Pringle said the party is confident in Browne’s candidacy and described the by-election as a pivotal race.
“Brother Alex has been putting in the work… This is the election. This is a change election,” Pringle said.
Pringle added that the United Progressive Party would be “put in full force behind Brother Alex… to ensure that victory.”
The St. Philip’s North by-election is scheduled for March 16.
