Emerging soca artist Dan Dish has entered Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant music scene with a mission to spread “positive energy, peace, and happiness.”

In an exclusive statement, he revealed that his inspiration stems from a deep appreciation for the nation’s culture. “It feels as if I’ve finally completed a task I was always pursuing,” he said.

Dish describes his musical style as “authentic and original,” with lyrics that resonate with carnival veterans and newcomers alike.

“My music speaks to those who’ve experienced being on the road, jamming behind a band—but it also inspires those who haven’t to join in this carnival season,” he explained. Confident in his sound, he is poised to make an impact.

However, his journey hasn’t been without obstacles.

“My biggest challenge was releasing music on my own timeline,” Dish admitted. “The software I initially used restricted my uploads, but I overcame this by partnering with a music label. Now, my tracks will be available on all platforms this June.”

The late Ricardo Drue, a beloved figure in Antiguan soca, was Dish’s biggest idol. “He was a genuinely good person—the only one I could turn to for music advice,” he recalled. “I once told him never to give up on his dreams, and now I’m here to create waves, just like he did.” Looking ahead, Dish expressed his desire to collaborate with bouyon star Asa Bantan, citing his admiration for the genre.

With carnival season approaching, Dish’s message is clear: “I want people to feel the urge to enjoy themselves, clear their heads, dance, and embrace the good vibes.” His “jumpy and groovy” performances aim to deliver just that—an electrifying celebration of Antiguan spirit.
