Prime Minister Gaston Browne is encouraging citizens—regardless of political affiliation—to seize investment opportunities at Pensioner’s Point, a government-led land initiative.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne show, the Prime Minister described it as “total ignorance” to reject empowerment opportunities based on party lines. He emphasized that government-owned land is a national resource and should benefit all Antiguans and Barbudans, including those in the diaspora.

Browne revealed that only six of the 40 acres at Pensioner’s Beach are earmarked for a hotel, with the remainder subdivided into individual plots to appeal to locals who prefer land ownership. He also highlighted the growing popularity of Airbnb-style tourism—now accounting for 35% of stays—as a reason for this approach.

To improve accessibility, Browne proposed using existing property as collateral and urged citizens to explore creative financing solutions. He noted strong interest from overseas Antiguans but said many remain unaware of such opportunities.

The initiative, he said, aims to promote inclusive economic growth and shared national ownership.
