    Earthquake Felt Near Antigua and Barbuda

    An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.8 struck the northeastern Caribbean early Tuesday morning, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC).

    The tremor occurred at approximately 6:48 am local time and was located at latitude 17.42°N and longitude 62.77°W, at a depth of 88 kilometres.

    The epicentre was roughly 107 kilometres west-northwest of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. It was also recorded 14 km north-northwest of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and 93 km northwest of Brades, Montserrat.

    There have been no immediate reports of damage or injury.

    The UWI SRC noted that the data was automatically generated and may be updated following review by analysts.

    Residents across the region are encouraged to remain alert but calm, and to follow official guidance where necessary.
