Police are investigating after a woman was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon, losing more than $400 and personal documents to an armed assailant.
The incident happened at around 1:30pm near the Bargain Centre lumber yard on Kentish Road. According to reports, the victim was walking home when a white car pulled up beside her at the corner.
A man got out of the vehicle, pointed a gun at her, and demanded money before fleeing with her handbag, which contained $450, a Dominican Republic driver’s licence and other identification documents.
The suspect is described as around 5ft 9in tall with a slim build, wearing a white vest, black trousers and a yellow head-tie. He was last seen heading north towards Gilpin Avenue in the same vehicle.
Officers from Gray’s Farm Police Station searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect or the stolen items. The investigation continues.
