The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission proudly congratulates Ge’Eve Phillip on her outstanding victory at the 2025 Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch Competition, held on Saturday, August 9th, at the Landsome Bowl in Anguilla.
With commanding performances of _“One Man”_ and _“Daughter Come”_ , Ge’Eve captivated the judges and audience alike, delivering flawless vocals, commanding stage presence, and sharp lyrical storytelling. Her win is more than just a personal triumph it’s a source of national pride for Antigua & Barbuda and a milestone in regional calypso history.
Notably, Ge’Eve is now the youngest female calypsonian ever to win the prestigious Leeward Islands title a competition traditionally dominated by male performers.
Hon. Daryll Matthew, Minister responsible for the Creative Industries, applauded her achievement: “ _This is a monumental win for Antigua & Barbuda. This historic win is the latest chapter in Ge’Eve’s remarkable musical journey. She debuted in 2013 at just seven years old in Antigua’s Junior Calypso competitions, going on to claim 11 junior titles. In 2022, at 16, she made her senior Calypso Monarch debut with _“Small but Meh Tallawah”_ , earning 1st runner-up. This year, she dominated Antigua’s 2025 Calypso Monarch competition before heading to Anguilla to represent her country on the Leeward Islands stage.
The 2025 competition brought together top calypsonians from across the region, including Antigua & Barbuda, the US and British Virgin Islands, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, and host nation Anguilla. Ge’Eve’s performance outshone them all, with Queen Roxxy of Anguilla securing 1st runner-up and Drewzy of St. Kitts placing 2nd runner-up.
The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission extends heartfelt congratulations to Ge’Eve, her chaperone, the Calypso Sub-Committee led by Peter Abraham, and the entire Antiguan contingent who supported her journey.
