Antigua and Barbuda is currently being represented at the 60th Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, by a high level delegation being led by The Honorable Shenella Govia, Senator and Minister of State of Education, Sports and the Creative Industries, on behalf of the Honorable Rawdon Turner, Minister for Social and Urban Transformation.
Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation also comprises the Honorable Alincia Williams-Grant, President of the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Principal Delegate to the Organisation of American States (OAS), Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM). Mr. Jamie Saunders,The Executive Director of the Directorate of Gender Affairs forms part of the National delegation.
The delegation attended the opening ceremony of the meeting today at the National Presidental Palace, with remarks being made from the President of Mexico, Her Excellency Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean will discuss political, economic, social, cultural and environmental transformations as a means of advancing the care society and gender equality.Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation is expected to speak about the progress Antigua and Barbuda has made in areas such as gender responsive climate change, inclusive social protection systems and high political will to advance gender equality.
